From November 13th to 15th, 2024, the "2024 National Symposium on Key Technologies for Highway Monitoring, Early Warning, and Safety Emergency Response," hosted by the Comprehensive Transportation Development Promotion Branch of the China Communications and Transportation Association, was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province. This symposium aimed to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, to promote high-quality development of highway transportation, and to improve the level of information management of the highway network. Through technological empowerment, it sought to achieve comprehensive coverage, rapid retrieval, and stable operation of highway monitoring videos, thereby effectively improving highway monitoring and early warning capabilities, disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities, and the ability to handle major emergencies, ensuring the safety, stability, and smooth flow of the road network.

The conference focused on several key technical topics, including key points and prospects for optimizing and upgrading video monitoring on national expressways, construction of expressway operation monitoring and safety early warning systems, technical discussions on the construction of video-based infrastructure monitoring and early warning systems, sharing of experience in the construction and operation and maintenance management of provincial smart cloud control platforms, digital transformation of highway infrastructure and improvement of monitoring and early warning capabilities, event detection and early warning based on video cloud platforms, video AI analysis and application prospects, and exchanges on safe driving service guarantees in all-weather environments.
